I figured after sitting at home in temps exceeding 100 degrees with a heat index of 121 it may be wise to head to the beach…. This decision was heavily influenced by the fact that today was supposed to be hotter than yesterday. So, early this morning I headed for Kills Devil Hills in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, about an hour’s drive from my house. It truly was a wise decision… While it was indeed hot at the beach, it was nowhere near as brutal as in Chesapeake… The nice breeze helped. Your first clue to the whole breeze issue is the woman (pictured) who had to swim out for her umbrella which blew away. As for the dilapidated barn… nothing special, I just liked the photo. Three more months and I will be sailing again…….

Heading home....
I had a magnificent trip to Delaware & New Jersey…. It was fabulous seeing my sister and her family and my friends Randy & Lucy. The beach days in Rehoboth were simply amazing. If you have been following along in the past several days, you know I really lucked out in Ocean City. The weather has been grand. It was also a very special trip since it has been close to a year since I have seen my friends Jim & Patty and their daughter Emily. Last but not least was their dog Ellie (really my favorite…) who is always a treat to visit with…. The trip was just fantastic but all good things must come to a close. I traveled home today, time to start working on the next trip……

Another sunny day!
It was a bit foggy when I woke up this morning but it quickly dissipated. The day was filled with sun and most importantly a fresh breeze coming off the ocean to combat the hot temperatures. This evening we went out to one of my favorite restaurants, the Clam Bar, in Somers Point. The food, as usual, was fabulous. My friends Jim, Patty, Emily, Marge and Tom and I had a great evening. Hopefully, tomorrow will be another perfect day. My travel plans are beginning to shape up for the fall, winter and spring.... I set sail on the ms Maasdam on October 22nd for 56 days in the Caribbean, stay in Ft Lauderdale for 2 nights and then set sail on the ms Nieuw Amsterdam for the 14 day Holiday cruise, again in the Caribbean, and finally spend 3 nights in Ft lauderdale before I embark on the 2011 Grand World Voyage on the ms Amsterdam... my second home.

Beautiful day in Ocean City....
Today started a bit slow with overcast skies in the morning. I went to the beach at 11:00 and the day turned out to be spectacular. The sun was bright, nice breeze and the water temp, perfect. I sat there listening to my iPod, drinking diet coke and sucking up the sun.... It just doesn't get any better than that! I hope tomorrow the trend continues... Yesterday, my buddy Ian had like his 86th birthday. We are so happy he is doing so well. His wife Carole who must be around 32 is pleased that he has so much energy after his nap.... I may have fabricated the ages, makes the story so much better.... Happy birthday Ian (however old you are)
