Day 138 At Sea
We left the Antarctica a little after midnight last night and headed for the Falkland Islands… As the day progressed, we received a number of announcements from Captain Olav about the conditions in the Falklands. To make a long story short, we will be skipping the Falklands and heading straight for Buenos Aires. The forecast was for 70 MPH winds and 30+ foot seas…. It mystifies me why we couldn't tender ashore in the Falklands. OK, maybe it doesn’t mystify me, but I am disappointed but agree it would be impossible and not safe at all. Good decision!. I just hope that I don’t get thrown out of bed during the night. Henk Mensink, the Hotel Manager joined our table for dinner and it was a great evening. I can’t wait for warmer weather in the coming days….

Jeff,
We too missed the Falklands because of the weather. I believe that quite a few ships miss those islands. We were terribly disappointed that we weren't able to tender in.

One woman at our table, on the same cruise as Jennie and I, commented that she had tried for the Falklands 3 times and had never gotten in ..... hard spot to land.

Hi Jeff,
Thanks so much for braving the cold to shoot those amazing photos of Antartica. The contrasts are breathtaking.
Hopefully you'll soon be in temps more to your liking.
Enjoy the remainder of your trip.
