Day 44 Melbourne, Australia

We arrived just a bit late this morning into Melbourne. I suspect the wind and waves of the last few days took their toll. This Captain is very rarely late. I got off on my trip into the wild, the Australian bush about 10:00. It was about a 45 minute drive to get to Serendip. We spent the next hour or so trying to get as close to kangaroos as we could. Going for wildlife in the wild can be a bit difficult. For example, in Perth when I went to Caversham Wildlife Park the animal didn’t run away as they tend to do in the wild. I did manage a few good photos. We then went to a billabong where we looked for emus and various birds like the ibis. It was fantastic. We had a tea break and I came across a nest with three small chicks…. Very cool!!!! Next we went out to try and locate Koalas and we did get to see a few. They are difficult to photograph when they are high in the eucalyptus trees but I managed a few pretty good ones. Then it was back to the ship enjoying the sights along the way…..

Glad you enjoyed the wildlife trek. We did it when we were in Melborne in March, great fun. My wife came upon a herd of kangaroo and started a stampede, a couple hundred kangaroo running through the woods, quite a sight.

Did you run into my ex in Melbourne Jeff.
Hope you passed on my warm wishes...
When I live there it was NOT a cruise stop. All ships came to Sydney only, hence how I got there.
