Day 50 Noumea, New Caledonia

Today was difficult for me. Since my tour to Amedee Lighthouse Island was cancelled with little notice (not enough people) I was pretty much left hanging. It’s not surprising since the cost of going to the beach on Amedee Lighthouse Island is $223 per person…. Pricey? All part of the “Grand” Voyage experience. I decided to tour around Noumea checking out the markets, Cathedrals and most importantly the Cultural Center. I took a taxi with a friend to the Tjibaou Cultural Center which is dedicated to the Kanak culture because the architecture is so amazing. I enjoyed my touring and then returned to the ship for a day of bronzing. I would have gone to Duck Island to go snorkeling but didn’t have sufficient time to round up someone to go with. Going snorkeling alone isn’t always the smartest thing. I think I’m going to get cancelled out in Fiji as well.

I for one think your day was Grand. It looked like a Grand place to explore. And the architecture looked Grand as well.

My only question was did you get the required 4 hours for a bonus day in the sun?

Jeff:

I know a lot of folks have commented on your pics, but I've got to tell you.......the shots that you take are simply unbelievable.......I think when you are not sailing, you should be contracted with someone like HAL for your shots....they are simply amazing and really provide a glimpse of what 'future' travelers can expect to see on their 'shore excursions'....keep up the outstanding work....you were born to be a photographer.......hope all is well......the Mayor.....

PS-- Holly is working on new color creations with your current trip!
