Day 107 Cartagena, Columbia

Today started out pretty slow. I slept in until 8:00 and didn’t make it out of the cabin until 9:00. At around 9:30 I went to the forward decks to watch us sail into Cartagena, Columbia. It is a long and very scenic cruise into this very historical port. We didn’t dock until after 11:00 because we had to wait for pilots. Yvonne, Aart, Judith and Joop awaited the arrival of our friend Willem, the Chief Housekeeper from vacation. It was nice to see him along with Henk & Christel, Tom & Bart all returning together in time to prepare for the World Voyage. Around 1:30, Judith, Joop & I decided to take a whirlwind tour of Cartagena…. We hooked a taxi and went up to the Monastery where the city views were spectacular. Next we had a great visit to the Old Walled City….amazing. Finally, we stopped at the fort for a photo op. It was a great day and a wonderful tour of this historic city. This is our last port on this voyage… two days at sea and we are in Ft. Lauderdale where we start the 2010 Grand World Voyage…..

the contrasts from the old to the new and wealthy and not in this city are amazing. As always it's wonderful you share so much with use!
