Day 28 Bridgetown, Barbados

The tour today was really nice…. It started out pretty slow with rain and a fairly long drive but improved quickly. Our guide, Ronnie Carrington, was very good. He was an excellent photographer as well as our guide. We were able to see some very scenic areas of Barbados with the highlight being the Bathsheba area with its spectacular rock formations and great coastline…. Great tour! As for the internet…. No big improvement. I talked with the internet manager and he told me he didn’t know why the service was so bad. He said he set an email to the Communications Officer who replied that everything was OK…… OK? So, apparently I was confused. You would think that all the years I spent in the IT field that I wouldn’t be so confused. Wait a minute….. perhaps it’s the Communication Officer who is confused. By the way, I promised I would let you all know how long it took me to post those few sentences about the internet last night…. 14 minutes! It shouldn’t have taken more than a minute, two tops on a slow day. Confused? I think not! Today completes 28 days on the Maasdam, half way through my stay on this ship. Should I write a mid voyage review? Tomorrow, Grenada.

the goat looks like he wants to go home with you? What do u think holland would say abt having a goat on board? Great pics also. When do you get off the maasdam and on to your other vessel?

I feel your pain on the internet service. I had a similiar experience on the Prinsendam last summer. There are a lot of things Holland is great at, but this is not one of them.

Did you post that goat for me? Love it.

(21 goats, planning to have 7 bred. Discovered the joy of kid meat)

Jeff... we've taken that tour with Ronnie C in Barbados 3x over the past couple of years.. he's a nice guy.. Cassie first recommended the tour to us while she was w*rking filling-n at the Excursion desk ...back then there were only were about a dozen people who signed up for that first time tour.. last time we did it last year we had a full bus.. he brings you to the prettier part of the island-- the east end...

as for the internet...it always suxxxx onboard... in our cabin on the Lower Prom deck-aft 403 service is low to good unless you sit yourself right near the door ..then it becomes very good... turns out after asking a number of Internet Mgrs over the years they take signal readings from the hallway in front of the cabin.. not inside the cabin.. so on their charts the signal is supposedly very good...

enjoy your amazing voyages..

Ray... the Lido deck starboard aft 'corner spot guy' :)

Stakeout, this has nothing to do with the wireless conection. It is strictly with the satellite connection and bandwith.

gotcha on the 'satellite connection and bandwidth'... good luck dealing with 'them'..maybe you can make a difference with it.. for the prices they charge they should have a better product..

I've mentioned it to them most of the times we've been onboard the Maasdam over the past couple of years... bottomline.. they could care less... pretty sure they're an outside source

good luck
