Day 35 Napier, New Zealand

Today we arrived into the port of Napier, New Zealand, around noon. Napier is the Art Deco capital of the world. An earthquake destroyed the city in 1931 and the city was rebuilt in the Art Deco style, pretty cool… I had a last minute change of plans on a shore excursion I was to take so I just went ashore and toured the town. I decided that a hike up to Bluff Hill would be nice so I headed out for the peak. Along the way I came across Centennial Gardens which were absolutely beautiful… they even had an awesome waterfall. The view from Bluff Hill was great and provided me with some excellent exercise as well. I then headed back to town and ran into Allan & Sandra. We shopped around a bit and then headed back to the ship. Tomorrow we will be in Wellington New Zealand where Ed, Becky and I will head out on another adventure….

Thanks for the memories

I have visited twice--both times on HAL--also really enjoyed the Art Deco town-so clean with lovely flowers--as you show.

Also, the surrounding areas offer superb scenery and vineyards

I follow your reports daily--BUT I manage to resist boring you with TOO many of my comments !
