Day 19 Shanghai, China

Wow, what a day! Our first stop this morning was the Maglev (Magnetic Levitation) train. The magnetic levitation is noticeable just before departure and them you are off and running….. They have a digital display that shows the speed building all the way up to 431 km/h (268 mph). The only thing faster on land is my buddy Phil's Race car. What a trip! We took the Maglev out to the airport and back…. Simply amazing. Next I went to the Observation deck of the Jinmao Hyatt Building, until recently, the tallest building in China. Great views unfortunately diminished by smog. Its just one of the challenges faced by travel to major Chinese cities. The view down the center of the building was pretty good too. It was a great day. The next two days are at sea as we head toward Hong Kong. I hope we have some good weather….

Just found your extraordinarily long travelogue.

Wish that I could look forward to doing anything remotely similair when I retire in 4 years from long service with the IRS---though how many people are lucky enough to have such an income to enable such a lifestyle.

Enjoy !
