Day 18 St. John's Antigua

Today was a very different kind of day for me in the beautiful island of Antigua…. In the past, every time I came here is was an automatic trip to the beach. And why not, this island has a different beach for each day of the year. That’s a lot of beaches! This time I hooked up with Brad & Leslie and we hired a great guy with a taxi to show us the island. He was Marcus “Doc” Richards (1-268-464-1359)… if you need a tour of Antigua, give him a call. Anyway… we began our island tour heading out of St John’s to Betty’s Hope, Antigua’s first sugar plantation from about 1650. There was a really nice windmill there along with another partial remains… very cool. Next we headed to Devil’s Bridge. Here we had a huge blowhole. I kept creeping closer and closer with my camera and as you can see…. perhaps a little too close. The photos I took followed by the ones Brad took of me during the process tell the story very well. Next we headed to English Harbour to tour Nelson’s Dockyard and Shirley Heights with its spectacular view of English Harbour…. As we headed back to St John’s we took the road along the coast seeing beautiful beach areas along the way. What a lovely island. Thanks to “Doc” we had a great visit to Antigua…..

I have pics of similar places in Antigua, somehow they are not as pretty or spectacular! You have a great eye for the photo!
Thanks again for sharing your journeys!

Great pics, esp the blowhole. The alligator/croc rock formation on the left side of the hole is great. Yeah, I see things in clouds too!
