Day 31 Kralendijk, Bonaire

We arrived very early into the port of Kralendijk, Bonaire.  It was obvious from the start that this was not going to be a day of snorkeling in Bonaire.  The weather said a day of rain and overcast skies was in store for us.  Pity, Bonaire is a great place for snorkeling.  I decided to do something a bit different so I took a tour of the north island.  I never got past the water on all my previous visits.  We took a scenic route along the coast stopping at the “1000 steps”, a scenic spot that divers use.  Then it was off to the flamingo sanctuary which was fabulous….  We also slid through the town of Rincon which is Bonaire’s oldest Spanish settlement.  It was a pretty nice tour and certainly made the most of an otherwise gloomy day….. Tomorrow we will visit Curacao.

What was the beach made of? Shells?
The flamingos are beautiful.

The beaches here are not very good. The one's in the picture is made up of bits of coral...
