Day 28 At Sea

Today was a day of extremes…. This morning it was extremely hot and sunny and then quickly went to extremely wet and rainy. I sat there for a while accompanied by a bird who appeared lost at sea…. As the weather soured, I started the process of potentially doing another very long voyage in 2009-2010, possibly over 200 days. There is a lot of work to do before this becomes a reality. First and foremost the price has to be right. The recent downturn in the markets makes it a bit more of a challenge. Tomorrow starts a much awaited trip. I’m finally getting to Thailand. I was supposed to come here and work back in the 70s but last minute changes sent me to Greece instead. I will be doing an independent 2 day tour of the area and really am excited. I hope the weather will cooperate, thunder showers may be in the offing…. Here is and outline for my trip:
18OCT - Pick up cruise pier this morning at 8.30am. Visit the Grand Palace with Emerald Buddha and Wat Po (Reclining Buddha). Then visit the Wat Trimitr Golden Buddha. After a local lunch, enjoy boat ride through Klongs with visit to Wat Arun (Temple of dawn). Visit the Royal Barges Museum and enjoy a walk through the flower market before the last visit at the Golden Mountain
19OCT - Visit Damnoen Saduak floating market and by longtail boat, visit the River Kwai Bridge, and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Transfer to the cruise pier departing Bangkok at 6.00PM
I just wish some of my Thai friends were here to share my visit to their country…. I will update the blog when possible…..
