Day 29 Laem Chabang....Bangkok, Thailand

Today was just amazing….. I have seen some beautiful temples and palaces around the world but the Thais put many to shame. These places are so incredibly beautiful…. Yes, I took countless photos. We started the day driving to Bangkok (about 2 hours) and went to the flower market first. The place was beautiful and the people very interesting. I can see why they call Thailand the “Land of Smiles”. Next we went to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Located with the Grand Palace this place is surreal. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew ) is the most beautiful temple in Thailand according to my guide. I can’t dispute it. Just beautiful! Emerald Buddha is carved out of a solid piece of jade during the 15th century…. That’s one big piece of jade. Next we went to the Grand Palace and it was grand…. My photo finger was tiring at this point. Next we went to the Temple of the Reclining Buddha ,Wat Po. I could barely get the image in with my wide angle. Then we crossed the river in a long boat heading for the Temple of Dawn, Wat Arun with its 260-foot spire silhouette. The climb to the top was exceptionally steep. It put Angkor Wat to shame. It just about wiped me out it was so steep. Going down was the worst part. The temple was just beautiful and the views spectacular. We then got into a longboat and went to the Royal Barges museum before continuing on thru the Klongs (canals) to see some of the local sights. Then it was off to the Temple of the Golden Mount, another nice climb with great views. We ended our touring for the day going to the Marble Temple, built with Italian marble….. Absolutely and amazing day but….. it didn’t end there. I checked into the hotel and then went out and roamed the streets for about 3 hours and went to the night market…. I was pretty tired at the end of and amazing day.

Wow. I've been keeping up pretty well, just wanted to tell you that Jeff. This beats most days for sure. Unimaginable places. (How did they do that? I guess massive amounts of manual labor. Makes me feel very lazy and slobby)
