Day 30 Bangkok, Thailand....Laem Chabang

Today was pouring rain in the morning. We are talking monsoon type of a downpour! We traveled to the floating markets which was about an hour and a half away. We stopped along the way at Maeklong Station where vendors gather along the tracks (and on them when there is no train), selling their ways. It was very colorful and interesting…. Then it was off to the floating markets. We stopped along the way and my guide and I go on a longboat and cruised the canals the rest of the way to the markets. The Floating market are alive with color and the activity of doing business. It is just wonderful. I spent a lot of time there and decided not to go all the way out to the River Kwai due to the weather. After spending a few hours at the markets we headed back to Bankok, had lunch along the way and went to Pattaya Beach for a while before returning to the ship. Tomorrow we go to the island of Koh Samui, Thailand. It’s a beach and snorkeling day for me if the weather shapes up. Here is my plan:
Coral Island Calm
Ever wished you could play at being Robinson Crusoe for the day? Come along to Coral Island, and live out a day in the life of a shipwreck, but with the guarantee of returning to civilization when it's over. A short drive takes you to Tong-Krut Bay where you'll board a traditional long-tailed boat for the journey out to Koh Tan (Coral Island). Legend has it that the island is bewitched and, as a result of the ancient spell cast on it, no dogs can live here! There is plenty of free time for snorkeling, swimming or just relaxing in the sun. A small restaurant gives you a chance to purchase snacks and lunch. Of course Robinson Crusoe didn't have access to a restaurant, although he undoubtedly wished he did, so it's just like the book, only better!
