Today we arrived at our anchorage at Ile De Pins, New Caledonia around 0700. I took one of the first tenders ashore to basically walk around, take some quick photos and get back to the ship. The weather at that point looked pretty dismal. It was my lucky day…. As we tendered ashore the sun popped out, which made for a nice visit. Some of the beaches here are just breathtaking…. The sand is white powder and the water crystal clear…. It was perfect getting here first and having the place to ourselves before the crowds arrived later in the morning and early afternoon. The snorkeling here is pretty good as well. There are plenty of fish around, even the dreaded land shark which I caught a photo of….. It was my first visit here but hopefully not my last. If you are looking for a good beach stop, Ile De Pins, New Caledonia is just the ticket….

Jeff,
Thanks fr the continuing reports. I love the pictures and I am so glad that you include pictures of the people. I finished your Mega Voyage and now I'm into the World Cruise from 2007.
Than you for taking the time.
Bridget
Hi Jeff, I'm a friend of NanSea's and enjoying your news. Thanks for your good efforts & keep the pics coming! We've been on QE2 for the past 5 years for part of the Worldie so we are now world cruisers without a ship, for this year anyway. Love seeing/hearing about New Caledonia & New Guinea, we like that part of the world, one of our best days was Rabual a few years ago. When you see NanSea, pls tell her that her fan club is awaiting news...take off those cool shades and send us news NanS. Thanks Jeff, JOY
