Great day in Shanghai! Ron, Glenda & I headed out to the old town of Shanghai & the Yu Yuan Gardens around 0900 this morning. The air was just a little crisp but very sunny. The old town and the Yu Yuan Gardens are just delightful. There are so many people there that it is easy to lose each other. We spent the whole morning there( and a little of the afternoon) taking in the sights and watching all the people. We then got adventuresome and headed to the Bund along the banks of the Huangpu River. It was quite the adventure, walking through less tourist friendly streets and finally cutting through a barricade and trying to cut across several lanes of aggressive drivers…. What a trip! Once on the Bund, we again checked out all the sights and people. The buildings across the river like the Oriental Pearl TV and Radio Tower and the Jinmao Building are quite a sight. We decided to take the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel under the river to the Pudong district and go up the Oriental Pearl TV and Radio Tower. First of all, the vehicle ride under the river is quite a trip…. Lots of lights, almost a psychedelic experience (see photo). The views from on top of the tower were great (better with less haze). We eventually finished there, went back under the river and strolled the Bund once again. Around 3:30 we decided to make our way back to the Rotterdam and here I am…..
