Today was a perfect day at sea with an arrival into Cairns, Australia to top off the day. I sat out in to hot sun all day and then went and got cleaned up for our arrival into Cairns. Ron, Wil & I went ashore first thing after our arrival and explored a bit before heading for the night market. We finished off the evening with dinner at one of the restaurants along the Esplanade. It made for a great day. Tomorrow morning I head out on a ship’s tour. Here is the description: Modern Scenes & Ancient Times
Discover the history and ancient land that is home to the Tjapukai people at Tjapukai Aboriginal Culture Park, a magical, mystical world dedicated to preserving and presenting authentic Aboriginal Culture, with the aid of modern technology. Five theatres, a museum, art gallery and a traditional Aboriginal camp combine to present 40,000 years of history and culture. Stone-age artifacts and murals tell the legends of the past, while colorfulsong and dance recreates ancient celebrations. Situated on 25 acres of land owned by the Tjapukai people at Caravonica, north of Cairns, Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park is a stunning theatrical interpretation of Aboriginal culture from the beginning of time into the future. Enjoy a buffet lunch in the park at the end of your Aboriginal experience. Next, take a short walk to the Skyrail, where an enclosed cable car will take you skimming across the rain forest canopy, taking in breathtaking views of the Coral Sea and Green Island. The journey up the mountain includes stops at the Rain Forest Interpretive Centre and Red Peak Station, and concludes at the charming rain forest village of Kuranda at the top of the range. Take a few moments to explore the colorful mountain village of Kuranda before boarding the famous Kuranda Rail for a scenic train ride down the range with more superb views out across the Coral Sea. Your coach will meet you at the base of the range to return you to the ship.
