Day 45 Fremantle/Perth Australia

What an amazing day!!!!! We arrived into Fremantle early this morning and my friend Paul was there to great us as we sailed into the harbor. I got off the ship fairly quickly and connected with Paul and off we went. We headed for south Perth where Paul & Sylvia live. They have a great home in an unbelievable location. So after my arrival we were off on our adventure for the day exploring Perth and the surrounding areas. First we went to see some Kangaroos where I learned that is you get too close they will threaten you and prepare to strike while growling loudly. I took my photo at that point and backed away. I figured he could take me fairly easily. We then headed for Yanchep National Park north of Perth. It was a nice visit to the park seeing the Koalas and other animals…. Heading south again we stopped at Yanchep beach for a look, very lovely! We then visited Trigg Beach which was absolutely beautiful. I even like the snake we came across, a poisonous Dugite snake. Very cute! We then went to lunch right on the Swan River which was fabulous. After lunch we took the ferry across the water to downtown Perth for a little walking tour. We took the ferry back and went on to King’s Park, saw the War Memorial and great scenic views form on top of the hill. We then went to a great beach, Cottesloe Beach which was a favorite of Sylvia’s father. I can see why he liked it so much. Great beach, great sand and clear water…. Fabulous spot!!!! After an absolutely amazing day, Paul & Sylvia dropped me off at the ship so I could get cleaned up for dinner. They went home, got ready for dinner and met me back at the ship around 7:00 in the evening. We had a nice time touring the ship, seeing some old friends and still had time for drinks before dinner. Dinner was very nice and it capped off a perfect day. Paul & Sylvia were the perfect hosts and it was sad to see them leave. I hope that our paths will cross again very soon.

Jeff,

What is that massive looking creature - a jelly-fish of some sort? What size was it?

Thanks again for the great photos and descriptions.

The pictures of the beaches are amazingly beautiful. Glad you had such a good day. I didn't realize that visitors could come on board the ship. Thanks again for your blog.

Hi Jeff, What an outstanding day you had. It looks like such a beautiful city and I can't wait to go there sometime. I spoke to some friends on the Seven Seas Voyager this morning. They are a few days behind you and hear you are having too much fun. They said to tell Captain Olav to slow down so they can catch up with you!

Hugs,
JT

That massive creature is about 12-15 inches across and is a Man of War, nasty little bugger....

Looks like you are getting real cozy with the koalas. Think you should get a stuffed one to take home instead of a frig magnet. That is experience speaking! We are getting ready for carnaval (mardi gras) and the big parade in our village on Saturday night in Holland. The village will have 20,000 visitors for the event. But nothing as great as your adventures. Tell Ness that Rudy is already wearing his blond wig.
