Day 56 Tauranga (Rotorua), New Zealand

We arrived around 7:00 this morning at the port of Mount Maunganui outside Tauranga, New Zealand. Our tour operator, Indigenous Trails was ½ hour late picking us up and it was downhill from there. We spent about 1 ½ hours at the Whakarewarewa Thermal Village in Rotorua which was nice and the rest of the day was pretty poor. They even took us to a place where they are creating some type of religious camp for the afternoon. I decided that I would leave if they started serving Kool Aid….. I won’t be doing anymore tours with that bunch. Tomorrow we will be in Auckland, New Zealand. I don’t have a tour so I will play it by ear….

Hi Jeff:
It may not have been a good tour, but your pictures were still terrific! I've been in several "hot springs", and they've been fantastic. These look like they'd be too hot to handle.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for all the wonderful photos of New Zealand. Should they ever need a photographer for their Bureau of Tourist, you'd be on their "short list" as your photos certainly capture the "essense" of the country.
Sadly, the remenants of hurricane Ida just came up our East Coast and some of your favorite beaches won't be exactly as you remember them. Let's hope Mother Nature hasn't lost her restoritive powers!
Enjoy the remainder of this segment of your trip.
