Day 68 Honolulu, Hawaii

Today was a pretty darn good one…. I talked with a number of friends and family which was nice. I didn’t get to everyone but I still have two more days in Hawaii and Los Angeles. We arrived into Honolulu around 0800 this morning. The immigration went very smoothly… good job HAL crew! I left as soon as possible and headed for Waikiki. I got dropped off at the Hilton Village and walked through to the beach. I took time to check out their gardens, ponds and assorted wildlife. It’s a pretty neat place. It was a great day at the beach. The sun was hot and the water refreshing until…. I ripped open my toe on a jetty and bled like a stuck pig. I got some immediate assistance from a vendor I walked over to where we constructed a rudimentary bandage out of a paper towel and scotch tape. At least it kept most of the sand out. I went to a surf shop and got some band aids that improved the situation marginally (still bleeding) and finally walked down the beach to a hotel lifeguard who helped me out. It was a bit of a pain since I couldn’t go in the water anymore… Later in the afternoon we left the beach and went to Dukes for some Hula pie and a diet coke, try it sometime…. it’s huge and very delicious. I then took a stroll through the International Market Place before heading back to the ship. I took advantage of some wireless internet adjacent to the ship to update my computer…. Tomorrow we will be in Kona, Hawaii on the Big Island. It will be a pretty laid back Thanksgiving for me. Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends and family!
