Day 82 Puerto Chiapas, Mexico

My arrival this morning into Puerto Chiapas, Mexico was simply fantastic! The sunrise and scenic views of the lighthouses and fishing village was spectacular…. I got off the ship early just to scout out the terminal and check out the modes of transportation. There were tours available but not until 10:00 so Aart & Yvonne & I arranged a tour with a taxi. We first went to the Mayan ruins at Izapa which were very nice. They certainly weren’t the caliber of a Chichen Itza but nice nonetheless. Next we went to a lovely town named Tuxtla Chico or ‘Chocolate City’ where they make chocolate from cocoa beans. The local markets there were fabulous as were the people. There definitely great photo opportunities… We then headed to the city of Tapachula, the local city that the port of Chiapias services. It was a nice place but not nearly as enchanting as Tuxtla Chico. From there we went by to take photos of some fairly derelict fishing boats before heading back to the ship. I spent the remainder of the afternoon poolside until our sail away party. We now are on the ship for the next 5 days….

Great foto's. Enjoyed the proper size diet coke! In the next five days, must be time for a massage or two.

What a contrast between these last two ports and Acapulco.. I wonder how many cruise ships have stopped in this location? Looks like what several of the Mexico stops used to look like 15-20 yrs ago. Still rural, not just high rise Condo's. Loved the photo effect with the girl dancing.

I love how the smaller, lesser known ports are sometimes the most picturesque! Looks great and great pics as always!
