We arrived into Long Beach early this morning under a beautiful sunrise…. It was sad to say goodbye to Cherryl & Larry. The last 3 months with them has been grand. I left the ship around 8:15 to meet my friend Vicki and pick up a package she had for a friend onboard. She took me to Best Buy where I succumbed once again to the evils of photography and bought a new camera. I am now the proud owner of a Nikon D300S which also incorporates video capability…. very cool. Did I need one…. Probably not but it should provide a lot of great photos. I made it back to the terminal by 10:00 to meet Aart, Yvonne & Dolly so we could head out in our limo with a driver. First stop…. CVS Drugstore to pickup a few items and then it was off to Best Buy where I did some more damage,,,,, We then went to Santa Monica for lunch. It was a great lunch and a fun afternoon. I got a call at 1:15 that the ship had been cleared so we could return. We finished lunch and then returned to the ship. I saw a few friends who boarded and had dinner with my dear friends Sandy & Grace…. Nice Day!

Jeff,
Good Long Beach Pictures.
Your one of the Queen Mary makes me think of one of
Crusnettas Dam Ships.
Keep up the good work,
Bill Hobart
Quick note bud...
You have a Merry Christmas and please remember that some of your friends are "freezing there ass off"!
Christ it's cold.
Knew I shouldn't have cancelled that cruise this year. Oh well I will be out and about on a frozen lake with a nice warm cocktail. Definitly not diet coke.
Take care and have a good one.
Hello Jeff,
I just finished a lenghty comment and then realised I had not created an account with Google. So my first comment is lost. Try to remember whatever I wrote.
So this is the second time.
Thank you very much for your beautiful photo's and keeping the blog up to date. It is the first thing I do every morning: reading your blog. Never dissappointed! Whenever you are in Holland and none of your many Dutch friends is available, please let me know. It will be my pleasure and way of thanking you for your blog, to show you the part of the Netherlands I am living. It is just a 20 minute ride north from Amsterdam.
On february 10, I am leaving for Tahiti to board the Star Flyer (sailing ship) and will board the ship on Feb. 14. It will be the repositioning cruise. The first leg is from Tahiti to Panama, which will take 34 days, then 14 days cruising the Caribean, with visits to Curacao, Aruba, St. Kitts and Jost van Dyke and ending in St. Maarten. From St. Maarten it will take 18 days, with one stop in the Azores, before reaching Lisbon. Flying home on the 21st and then back to normal life! Phhhhhh. No one to make your meals, clean up, but most of all, without the fellow passengers.
If you have any suggestions for what to do in i.e. Panama, please let me know. My email address is
cwdotvanderpoel@quicknetdotnl.
In comparison with your over 700 days in two years with HAL, my cruise doesn't count. Plus your upcoming world cruise in 2011. Would it not be cheaper to buy the ship? Just kidding.
Thanks again for sharing your world adventures with so many people and I would like to wish you a Happy Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
You never know, we might meet one day (this after winning the lottery).

Jeff, I am Pat Levings. We met on the Asia/Australia 65 day in 08. You may have heard Jean McLean speak of me and my husband,Jack. She gave me your blog address and I have enjoyed following along. We are avid cruisers, and are leaving on 1/3/10 on the Rotterdam for 63 days out of San Diego. You mentioned several people you know are planning on the 2011 World. We are considering signing up for that too. Hope to see you again, and thanks for the entries.
