Day 85 Panama Canal

No matter how many times I transit the Panama Canal, I always am riveted by the experience. It is a true marvel to behold and is considered to be the 8th wonder of the modern world. We entered the approach to the canal very early this morning and arrived at our first set of locks, the Mira Flores Locks just after 7:00 am. When I arrived on deck I could see Panama City off in the distance. The Bridge of the America’s was in front of the ship, just before the Mira Flores Locks. We went through the locks and a mile later we approached and transited the Pedro Miguel Locks. Then it was under the Centennial Bridge and clear sailing to Gatun Lake where we would spend the rest of the day and spend the night. It was a great day to transit the canal; the weather was not to bad for a transit. Once we arrived in Gatun Lake I went up on deck and hung out by the pool for the rest of the day. We had a nice barbeque out on the Lido deck in the evening and it capped off a nice day. Tomorrow morning we are scheduled to leave our anchorage at 0915 and depart Gatun Lake. At 1125 we are scheduled to pass Gamboa and at 1255 we arrive at the Pedro Miguel Locks. Finally, we are scheduled to arrive at the Mire Flores Locks at 1405, departing an hour later. If you want to catch the ms Amsterdam during our transit you can follow us at http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html

Hello, really enjoying your blog, been following for the last several cruises. Can you tell me what military ship that was in the canal?

Someone said it was the Carter Hall, a US Navy ship

Hi Jeff!
Sailing along with you every day as usual. Watched AMSTERDAM on the web-cam yesterday, but couldn't quite make out the tan man in the yellow bathing suit.
