Day 54 St. Maarten/St. Martin

Beautiful day here in St. Maarten/St. Martin! We arrived early into Phillipsburg, St. Maarten this morning parked across from the Holland American ship Westerdam. I had a very interesting day…. An old friend from my early college years, Ellie, was onboard the Westerdam and we saw each other for the first time in many years. It was a lovely reunion. We went to the French side of the island to Bikini Breach on Orient Bay. The sun was just sizzling and the water felt great. We spent about 2 ½ hours at the beach and then headed back to the Dutch side were we checked out the beach and shops there. I was famished so we stopped in a restaurant along the beach where I got my low carb fix for the day. The Westerdam was leaving early today so we headed back and said our goodbyes… It was great to see a wonderful friend from my distant past.

I am so sorry that the captain has chosen to be invisible, it makes NO sense. As we say in the medical industry "good Doctors are not aleays oustanding Doctors" See you on the world with another OUTSTANDING CAPTAIN

Jeff,

Sorry your "smell" problems are continuing. As you know we had those problems off & on during our summer Voyage of the Vikings. We also had water problems and so did many others on Deck A. Many of our cruise friends have now told us when they were on the Maasdam they have experienced these same problems.
So sad to say it seems something that has plagued the ship for a few years. One would HOPE that HAL could respond to these issues and try to find the source ... fixing the problems.

THANKS for all the photos as usual they are great!
Like all the flowers, Haagen-Dazs sign & the "Blue Bitch Bar"!!!

Keep up the low carb diet nice it's working for you!

Happy Holidays!
Luv'n Hugs,
Jean & Doug

Hi Jeff:
Isn't it a small world....running into an old friend is always amazing. Lots different than running into someone at home.
St. Marteen photos are super (as yours always are).
It is one of my favorite ports....just because its small, fun and festive to shop.
Have a super day my friend, from one Big Deal to another.

The MS Amsterdam has just arrived in San Francisco for her dry dock.
I hope everything is in great shape for your Grand World Voyage next month.
