Day 11 Callao, Peru

I had a fabulous day today with Allan & Sandra. We went to Miraflores, an upscale area outside Lima along the coast. We took the shuttle to the Marriott and then walked downtown stopping at a coffee shop along the way. We got tickets to the Double Decker tour bus for the 1:00 tour of Miraflores and then went to lunch. We had a great lunch and then it was off on our tour. We sat in the upper, open air section of the bus which was great for photos. The seats, however, were so hot I almost burnt my buns….. The tour was great! The first surprise was seeing the ruins right in town… amazing. We all enjoyed the tour and then walked back to the coast. We went to the mall where Allan & Sandra got a seat at a restaurant, had a cold drink while I walked down the coast toward the Lighthouse for photos. It was a really nice day capping off a wonderful two day stop in Callao. Now we have four days at sea as we make our way to Easter Island…

Aren't those ruins great, and so easy to get to. Yet, few visitors to Peru visit them. We spent a morning there in 2009 and then had lunch at the restaurant overlooking the ruins. It was great. Looks like you had clear skies and clear coastal views ... not so when we were there. Thanks for bringing back some great memories with your photographs.

Hi Jeff:
"Burnt Buns", well, they should match the rest of you! Ha ha!. Marshmallow?!?!?
Today's pictures are great. I love people shots. Get a kick out of seeing different countries' law enforcement officers; like seeing the officer wearing the Kevlar vest on the outside of his uniform.
We leave for our cruise in 5 days and a wake-up! Enjoy your days at sea. I know you'll be hitting the spa for pampering.

It's always so interesting to see ruins from the past. Thanks for enduring your burnt buns and all for some great views and more wonderful photos!

You brought some memories back for me too...the photo of the man backed up against the wall picking his nose reminded me of the Bermuda cruise where we witnessed someone "picking his seat"(It still makes me laugh) And they think your not looking....Someone is always looking!!!
