Day 26 Rarotonga, Cook Islands

Today was simply grand…. Ed, Becky & I headed ashore early this morning into Rarotonga. The sea conditions were pretty rough just like the last time I was here. We walked into town which was pretty empty because of the early hour and of course because it was Sunday. We decided to hike one of the trails which, after a fairly short distance, it soon became clear that it no longer existed…. We back tracked through the dense brush and headed over to the Across the Island Trek. We hiked about halfway across the island and then returned back to town. It was a great hike filled with lots of scenic photos. Once back in town we stopped for a cold diet coke before hiring a taxi for a quick tour around the island. We took the tender back to the ship and it was a wild ride indeed. It was not surprising that tender operations were suspended a couple of times during the day. Overall, it was a fabulous day, about the best we could have had considering the fairly overcast and drizzly conditions that persisted. Tomorrow we have a sea day to rest….

Thank you for the memories. Cook Islands are my favourite place, especially Aitutaki.
